This is a audio clip about Deep Purple and how Ritchie Blackmore´s strange behavior got the staff terrified at a hotel in Helsinki 1993.

Deep Purple arrived in Helsinki in November 1993 as part of the European tour. Helsinki ice hall woud be the last stop for the tour as for Blackmore the last appearance on stage with Deep Purple, even though it hadn´t been published publicly yet. Ritchie had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

The band and tour staff had arrived to the hotel early in the morning of day of the gig,it meant that the room cleaning wasn´t ready and had to be done fast, but the guests reported that they could wait at the lobby bar untill their room is ready.
Blackmore was a exception,he got to his room and closed the door behind him.
When the cleaner got to Blackmores door, she knocked at the door, but didn´t get a response so she went in to the room with her key,to find a man dressed in black seated in a chair expressionless staring at the wall.
To a question: "Cleaning service, would you mind" he glared at her and continued to stare into the wall.
The cleaner thought the silence was a sign of permission to come in and start to clean.
The minibar was untouched so there was no need for a refill. Even the loud vacuuming sound didn´t disurb Blackmores concentration.
On her way out the cleaner thanked him and wished him a nice day,but the glaring got just got worse on Blackmores face.
The episode left the cleaner pondering, although she had been working only for a few weeks, but she hadn't seen a customer like this before, what if something was wrong?
So she decided to go and tell about it to the reception.
In the reception it turned out that the room belongs to a man called Richard Schwartz, ahaa so the man may be German so he may not understand English,
actually the members of Deep Purple used different names to sign in to hotels.
The cleaners worry didn´t stop there,so she suggested that a serviceman could go to the room and for example change the light bulb to a table lamp, and check the condition of the guest.
So they knocked at the door once again, and there was no reaction as before, so he went in with his key, just to find the same view as previously described.
The serviceman changed the light bulb and left the room.
Back in the reception they confirmed that both of the stories were true about the wall stairing, although the serviceman had noticed that the man in the chair was counting minutes or something else.
Part of the band members where in the lobby bar drinking coffee,so the receptionist went to tell them about mr. Schwartz´s strange behavior, and just to ensure that all is well.
The Purple guys looked at each other with a smile and asked if his eyes was open and did he appear to be breathing? Yes,these vital signs where detectable, the receptionist answered.
In that case there isn´t a problem, actually everything is better then good.

The same night Ritchie Blackmore made his last stage performance with Deep Purple, and after that there may not have been any need to stair at hotel room walls.
