Join us as we take a look back at the last decade to find the 10 best High School Cheer teams. After the 2012 season, the scoring system for competitive cheer was changed, lowering the total possible points in both Rounds 2 and 3, dropping the overall total from 828.48 to 798 points. In an attempt to normalize the scores from the two eras for this project, we calculated total scores as a fraction of the total possible points, drawing a percentage we could use for comparison's sake. None of the teams from prior to the scoring switch had percentages that ranked among the top 20 in the last decade. This allows some teams that were not state champions to crack our list.
