Corn Dogs Recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 large egg
2 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
6 hot dogs
wooden skewers
2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a large pot, heat 2 quarts of oil to 350 degrees.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
3. Add the egg, honey, buttermilk, and tablespoon of oil. Stir to combine.
4. If batter is too thick, add an extra tablespoon buttermilk.
5. Transfer batter to a tall drinking glass. Let sit for 10 minutes.
6. Insert a skewer into each hot dog.
7. Place some flour on a plate, coat the hot dogs with flour, shaking off any excess.
8. Dip one hot dog into the batter and onto a little bit of the stick. Shake off excess batter.
9. Slowly put the battered corn dog into the hot oil. Cook about 2-3 minutes, turning with tongs to evenly brown all sides,
10. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
11. Repeat with remaining hot dogs.
