In this talk, I’ll share our journey of developing a streaming video app for Android TV used by millions of users, where we faced a stringent challenge: keeping RAM usage under 200MB. Was RN up to the task? Spoiler alert: it was! Let me take you though our journey of debugging & optimizing memory usage, which even involved delving into the workings of Hermes’ garbage collector. It has been one of the most challenging tasks I’ve encountered.
