If you're totally new to the game, I recommend playing in first-person for a while so that any combat habits you develop, you'll develop in the superior fighting style. You'll be able to see your enemies better in first person and thus be able to read more attacks. When playing Mordhau in third person, your character will block your view, leaving you to guess when "face hugging" enemies with short, fast weapons, will attack.
Third person in Mordhau may be beneficial for players who wish to see how certain weapons look when they morph. Additionally, practicing drags and accels may be easier in third-person, since you can literally see the swing manipulation. Granted, nothing beats first-person manipulation practice, buuuut, third person may make it easier for you to wrap your mind around the mechanics. Build the foundation, and then go back to first person, is my advice.
