I was incredibly impressed by Air India’s brand-new Airbus A350 when I had the chance to visit it. A huge thanks to Air India and the friendly cabin crew for allowing me to film both inside and outside this stunning aircraft. I know that many of my subscribers are from India, and I hope you’ll love this exclusive tour around one of the most advanced aircraft in Air India’s fleet!
Air India has embarked on a historic journey with its order of 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, set to be delivered over the next five years. As part of this massive fleet expansion, the induction of Airbus A350s began earlier this year. From November 1, the airline will deploy the A350-900 on daily flights between Delhi (DEL) and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Starting January 2, 2025, Air India will also operate the A350-900 on five weekly flights between Delhi (DEL) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
In addition, Air India is set to deploy its flagship Airbus A350 on two of its services between Delhi and London starting September 1, 2024. This route upgrade will replace the current Boeing 777s and 787-8s with the A350-900 on two of the 17 weekly flights between Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Passengers on these flights will experience the airline’s newest widebody aircraft along with upgraded interior cabins.
So far, Air India has received six A350 aircraft out of its total order for 40 wide-body A350s, which is part of a broader deal with Airbus that includes 210 A320s. Additionally, Air India has recently launched flights on the Delhi-Dubai route with its new A350-900, marking the international debut of this aircraft in their fleet and making Air India the only carrier to operate the A350 on this route.
The A350-900 features a three-class cabin layout with 316 seats, including 28 private Business suites, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 264 Economy seats, all equipped with the latest technology and entertainment systems. The aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB turbofan engines, renowned for their efficiency and advanced engineering.
With the A350’s impressive range of 15,000 kilometers and its capability to operate non-stop flights of 16-17 hours, Air India is poised to strengthen its position in the long-haul travel market. The A350 burns 25% less fuel than previous models, offering a significant advantage in fuel efficiency. Currently, Air India operates 72 weekly flights to Dubai from five Indian cities, with 32 flights departing from Delhi, solidifying its strong presence in the region.
