I 3D Printed My Own Shoes

3D Printed shoes are already a thing—from Zellerfeld shoes seen on Stefan from CNC Kitchen and Eric from BigTreeTech, to the mass-produced Adidas 4DFWD.
But there are reasons you haven't seen me in 3D Printed shoes. My unofficial slogan is "We don't buy sh*t... We build sh*t... and occasionally fish it out of the trash." Half the fun in 3D printed products is making them yourself, to your own spec, size, and colors, at home. If I'm spending $200 on shoes, I prefer ones with technologies I can't 3D Print, like soft fabrics and rubber. Also, most 3D Printed shoe models are chonky, which doesn't fit my preference for barefoot shoes that improve balance, dexterity, and reduce joint pain. I can't go back to "normie" shoes.
So, imagine my excitement when I saw a Reddit user, Alessio, designing custom 3D Printed shoes that are actually printable at home with no supports or fancy printers. I pitched him on making a BAREFOOT shoe with all the benefits of 3D Printing, without looking like a space alien clown shoe from the future.
Most of you probably aren't into barefoot shoes, and there are plenty of videos on 3D Printing shoes, so to make this interesting for everyone, I'll be testing a wide range of materials—from common TPUs to exotic filaments—to find the best material for YOU to print a shoe in. I'll share lessons learned, how to get the best results, and how well these shoes hold up over time. For now, let's go make some shoes.
