Today we will be creating an animated drop-down list in vanilla JavaScript. As is expected with drop-down lists, you can drag the items around by picking them up in their current position with a mouse click and then drop them of in a new position by releasing that mouse click. This drop-down list is no different in that regard. What separates it from out from other drag and drop tutorials is that with this one, list items move out of the way to make way for the item currently being dragged with a transition. The end result is a drop-down list that feels more like a living entity rather then a jigsaw where things only pop into their correct place when the item is eventually released from coordination by the mouse.
