How to change your YouTube channel name and handle 2024 | Computer and Phone
Looking to refresh your YouTube channel's identity? You can easily change both your channel name and handle to better reflect your content or brand. Here's a quick guide:
Changing Your Channel Name:
Sign in to YouTube Studio: This is your one-stop-shop for all things channel management. You can access it through YouTube on desktop or the YouTube Studio app.
Navigate to Customization: On desktop, find this option in the left-hand menu. In the app, tap your profile picture and then "Your channel". From there, look for the "Edit Channel" option.
Edit Your Basic Info: Within "Customization", you'll find a section titled "Basic info". This is where the magic happens! Click or tap to edit your current channel name.
Craft Your New Name: Enter your desired new channel name. Keep in mind it should be catchy and reflect your content.
Save and Publish: Once you're happy with the new name, click "Publish" (desktop) or the checkmark icon (mobile) to save the changes.
Changing Your Handle:
Follow Steps 1 & 2 from above: Get yourself to the "Basic info" section of YouTube Studio.
Locate Your Handle: Right below your channel name, you'll see the handle section. This is a unique identifier that appears in your channel URL.
Edit the Handle: Click or tap on the edit icon next to your current handle.
Choose Your New Handle: Pick a handle that's memorable and easy to type. Remember, it can only be changed twice within a 14-day period.
Save and Publish: Once you've chosen your new handle, click "Publish" (desktop) or the checkmark icon (mobile) to finalize the update.
Bonus Tip: Changing your channel name might affect your verification badge, so be prepared for it to disappear temporarily.
