Learn the basics of sampling a complex acoustic instrument, as well as different sampling techniques can save you time on the project.
We sampled the piano using a pair of Neumann U87s, AKG 414s, Shure SM81s, and a Shure SM7B. Learn typical microphone placement techniques that we used and understand how you can experiment on your own.
At the end of the video, Matt plays Armin van Buuren’s “This Is What It Feels Like” as the audio crossfades between a mix of all the mics as well as each mic pair, so you can compare them yourself!
