In the USA, very cold weather happens in winter, and this is what local railroad workers came up with. To avoid massive accidents due to frozen rails, they thought of heating them, and to warm them up, they simply set them on fire. Here is such a simple, cheap way to prevent freezing of turnouts and the rail in general.
