So, DC is ready to launch their “Absolute” line of comics as part of their new “All In” initiative. Starting with Absolute Batman, then followed by Absolute Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and potentially even more.
Everything that I’ve seen from these Absolute books has me super excited, genuinely if you’re new to comics I think now is the best time to start reading DC. And it’s gotten me thinking how they could do the same approach for my favorite superhero: Green Arrow.
For those who don’t know, the “angle” for this Absolute line is essentially to take these iconic characters, remove a fundamental aspect of them, and see if that changes their values and who they are as a hero. All with some of the biggest creative teams in comics at the helm.
This book would have to take a look at all of the things that make Oliver Queen special and go right to the core of who he is. His history, his flaws, his motivations, his relationships. If you strip everything away, what are you left with? And what stories can you then build off of that?
And so here's my pitch for an "Absolute Green Arrow" comic.
