I've been involved in video editing and music production since 1985 and during those years I've tried out dozens of makes and models of headphones for studio use and I have yet to find a pair of closed-back monitoring headphones that can beat the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro and the DT 770 Pro headphones.
The DT 1770 Pro currently cost around £425 while the DT 770 Pro cost around £100 and I can, hand-on-heart, highly recommend both.
They come in 16, 32, 80 and 250 Ohm versions. I'd recommend the 80 for general all-round use or the 32 for use with an iPhone or portable music player. The 250 version are strictly for studio music desk production.
The 80 Ohm is what I use plugged into home studio computer audio interface devices such as those made by FocusRite, or for plugging directly into a computer.
