Vincenzo Bellini composed the chamber aria "Vaga luna, che inargenti" around 1827 on a text by an anonymous author. It is dedicated to Giulietta Pezzi. Its first publication dates back to 1838, posthumously, with the Casa Ricordi of Milan in the volume "Three unpublished ariette" together with the arias "Il fervidodesire" and "Sore image of my daughter"; they are presented in an extremely simple and sober style, in contrast with the emotional and melodramatic "gravitas" of the more typical Bellini operatic production and, more generally, of the nineteenth century.
