Ludwig von Mises - The Father of Austrian Economics & Mises Institute
Ludwig von Mises was a prominent Austrian economist and social philosopher. He was born on September 29, 1881, in Lemberg, which is now Lviv in Ukraine. He was the son of Arthur von Mises, who was a railroad official. Von Mises studied at the University of Vienna, where he received his doctorate in law and economics. He was an advocate of classical liberalism and a strong critic of socialism. He was a pioneer in the Austrian School of Economics and made significant contributions to the theory of money and credit, entrepreneurship, and economic calculation. He wrote numerous books, including "The Theory of Money and Credit," "Human Action," and "Socialism," which are still considered influential in economics today. Von Mises passed away on October 10, 1973, in New York City, leaving a lasting legacy in the field of economics.
