The most common and most popular data sets used with InDesign’s Data Merge to generate variable data projects include fields that are filled in some records, empty in others. InDesign will render all those empty fields and columns as lines and paragraphs, creating a sloppy, unprofessional look. With the simple technique in this clip you’ll learn how to tell InDesign to automatically remove all those extraneous blank lines and paragraphs resulting from empty fields. The result will be merged content that only takes up the space it needs and none it doesn’t.
