Neumann U87 vs Shure SM7B. Is There A £1500 Difference In The Sound On Vocals??

Can there really be a £1500 difference between the sound of two micrphones? That's exactly what I wanted to find out.
Here I record a vocal through a vintage Neumann U87 and a Shure SM7B to see if there really is a massive difference in the sound. The vocal was recorded through both microphones simultaneously, and went through an Audient iD44 interface on the way into Logic.
The Neumann U87 is a classic vocal microphone used on countless recordings. It has three polar patterns, Cardioid, Omni and Fig-8, which means it is useful in many recording applications other than a solo vocal.
The Shure SM7B is another classic microphone used widely across vocal and voice applications, anywhere from a screaming metal vocalist, to a breakfast show presenter on local radio.
A vintage Neumann U87, in this instance made in 1977, will set you back anywhere in the region of £1500-£2000 depending on condition and heritage, whereas the Shure SM7B can be picked up new for around £330-£360.
Is there a difference in sound equal to that of the pricetags? I'll let you decide. Comment below which you think is better, and if you think they are worth the prices they fetch.
