Malaika Mihambo, the reigning champion in the Women's Long Jump, claimed the gold medal for Germany at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In a closely contested final, Mihambo secured victory with a remarkable last-round leap of 7.00 meters, the only seven-meter jump in the competition.
Knowing that the bronze was secure and with nothing to lose, Mihambo approached her final jump with determination. With incredible skill and precision, she flew down the runway and launched herself, landing exactly seven meters into the sandpit, thereby claiming her first Olympic title.
