This is my review of App Academy, which is one of the first coding bootcamps and the coding bootcamp that I attended.
In this video, I cover my experience applying, attending and graduating from App Academy.
When I started looking at coding bootcamps in 2013, I found App Academy and they were the first and only coding bootcamps that offered deferred tuition, now known as income sharing.
I spend months studying, preparing, failing and trying again until i got accepted. After I attended their in-person bootcamp course in San Francisco, I ended up getting my first jobs as a software engineer at a VC backed Augmented Reality startup called Blippar.
This also led me to get a 6-figure salary as a software engineer who without a Computer Science Degree, broke into tech in less than a year.
Today, my cofounders and I are not just coding bootcamp grads but we've built Career Karma to help others break into tech as well.
This journey could be lonely and we believe that no one should be coding in isolation.
App Academy opened a lot of doors for me!
Last year, I started when we launched Career Karma, I didn't have to hire anyone to build my app.
I just started writing code that led to us to launch our iOS and Android app. We then got accepted into Y Combinator and raised Venture Capital funding to bring these types of opportunities to everyone who has the curiosity to learn.
