Today I'm continuing my How the Internet Works series with the foundational protocol - The Internet Protocol! I go through the functionality and feature of the modern Internet Protocol (version 6), its associated Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), and how packets can be routed, without forgetting the history and lessons learned in the early days of inter-networking that led to these decisions today.
