Google Calendar Focus Time and Time Insights | Google Workspace Updates
#Google_Workspace has been constantly evolving, and in these pandemic days, it is eveloving even much faster to keep up with the new challenges that everyone of us is getting!
One of these major challenges that we all suffered from is working from home, and having work completely take over our lives and daily routines! It is now very important that we return the balance to our lives especially that the world is slowly openning up again after almost 2 years of lock downs and disruptions to our lives.
There are many ways that you can use to manage and control your daily activities and routines, for me personally I love to use the calendar, it is a great way to setup your daily activities, and to let others know what is your schedule as well. But sometimes if you don't have anything set on your calendar, this does not mean that you are not working, or you don't have anything to do!
In many cases we need some time out of meetings, and away from people so that we can actually finish those tasks and activities that resulted off other meetings and calls. If you want to block calls in Google Workspace, you can have the option to set an out of office event on your calendar. This will let other poeple see you as away when they want to talk to you on Google Chat, or #Gmail, and will also automatically reject any meeting invitation that anyone might send to you.
But this is not actually the best representation to what you really want to communicate with poeple!
This is why Google has introduced the Focus Time feature!
This is an event type that you can now create in your Google Calendar, where it will act similarly to the out of office by rejecting incoming meeting invites, however it won't show poeple that you are away or out of office or anything.
This will still let you show poeple that you are working in office or at home, but you don't want to be on calls or meetings because you want to focus on other issues and items!
In this video I quickly demonstrate this for you and also one other feature that is called "Time Insights". Time Insights is a way for you to get full visiblity on how is your weeek ahead! It will let you know how much time you are putting into calls or meetings, and how much time you are actually doing work that is not meetings or calls!
WIth these 2 features together, I think now you got one great tool at your disposal that will let you do a lot and have much better control over your daily life and routine!
