This video demonstrates how to tub dye a sweater on the stove using acid dye. The dye used in this video was Jacquard Acid Dye, in color 626 Navy Blue.

Note: Wool requires moisture, agitation, and temperature change in order to felt. Wool can handle almost any temperature--including near-boiling temperature--if the change from one temperature to another is done gradually. It's agitation while wet, or a quick change in temperature (cold to hot or hot to cold) that you have to watch out for.
