This is "sort of a Sonos" but it's really a background music system / jukebox that plays random MP3s, forever! Just fire and forget, since the user interface is a single red button that works much like an 8-track player, cycling between 3 music playlists. For fun, we've also added commercial breaks and other vintage announcements that play randomly in between songs.

What's the point of all this? To make the office more fun of course! Some might say it's a "music lockdown" but any employee complaining about our selections will doom the entire company to a 24-hour marathon of "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band!

This is a a good first project if you have never done anything with a Raspberry Pi before. It combines a little hardware, a little configuration, and a little coding. The video shows how we use a push button for input and indicator LED for output. The line out of the Pi connects to a line input on a CyberData paging adapter, which then sends the audio via multicast packets on an RTP stream to speakers in the company bathrooms. Over engineered? Maybe. But the cause of much talk, smiles, and hand-wringing around the office. And our bathrooms have never been cleaner!
