Here’s how I leaf propagate my Jade Plant
1. 🪨 Start by creating a soil that consist of 40% Potting Soil, 40% coir and 20% perlite, this is a good general purpose propagation mix that will allow you to successfully root most plants. This mixture provides the proper drainage and aeration that you cuttings will need.
2. 🌱After the soil is thoroughly mixed fill a tray or pot with a generous amount of soil and slightly compact the soil.
3. ✂️ Always disinfect your pruners before taking cuttings from a new plant. I do this by putting 70% isopropyl alcohol in a small spray bottle and applying to my pruners. Then start to remove the leaves from the plant. If you like you can also twist the leaves off instead of using pruners.
4. 🪴 Open a hole with a dowel or pencil and place the end of the leaf that was cut in the soil only slightly and cover the tray or pot with the lid or piece of plastic will small holes will do.
5.💡Place the leaves under a grow light or on a windowsill and now be patient. The leaves should start to root in about 3-4 weeks depending on the environment. When they do they can be transplanted to a community pot with as many plants per pot as you like.
MonstroFarm Tip
💦 Allow the layer of soil that the leaves are sitting in to dry out completely before watering again
