Lt. Col Barnhart fromthe American Air Force, 501 Combat Support Wing, unveils the memorial to the young American aircrew who died in the B-24 bomber crash near Compton Martin in Somerset on 14 March 1944. The crew had been flying for hours in bad weather and were lost looking for a safe place to land. The B-24 bomber came down in a field above the village of Compton Martin in Somerset and five of the ten crew perished in the crash.
