Update From Logan Actuator: This procedure is more or less the same for all Logan and Wards 10" and 11" lathes. One difference on the 11" lathes is that the Bull Gear does not have a set screw. Also, one small correction. On the 10" lathes, the Front Bearing Cover was, on the earliest machines, match machined to the Bearing, so it was held firmly to the Headstock face. Later, the 4 coil springs were added so it did not have to be matched. And later still, the coil springs were replaced with a Belleville Spring Washer to hold the Bearing against the Headstock face. This does not apply to the 11" as those have a set of 4 Bellevilles next to the rear Bearing.

I bought a used head stock for my Logan 820 a few years ago. This headstock was dirty but in very good shape. I installed the spindle and back gear from this headstock in my functioning Logan 820. Although the parts are specific to the 820, this process applies to many Logan and Ward model lathes including the Logan 200
