⚠️Important updates in Weight Paint in Blender 2.91 and 2.92. I made a new video about that:
   • [Blender] Interface Changes in Weight...
The changes in Weight Paint mode in 2.91 were a bit of a mess, so I recommend avoiding it. In 2.92 things were improved significantly.
I also did a video about "weight painting through the mesh" which many people (including myself) were confused about.
   • How to paint "Through the mesh" in We...

If you followed my previous tutorials about rigging with Rigify you remember that we always used "Automatic Weights" to bind the character to the Armature.
(The playlist for the Rigify course is here:    • Rigify Fundamental for Blender 2.8~3....   )
This is a great first step and it can be perfect for quick tests. But to achieve great character deformations for your final characters you'll have to face another demon: Weight Painting. :)

Weight Painting is time-consuming but not difficult. The workflow is very simple once you know which tools are important and which you can ignore.

The purpose of this series is exactly that. It will show you the important tools and how to use them.
