EPISODE OVERVIEW:

My family and I recently took a much needed vacation to Grand Cayman. One day, we had the opportunity to take a boat over to Starfish Point, where there were tons of starfish lying in the shallow waters along the beach.

Nikon D500 in hand, I screwed on my circular polarizer filter and went to work on some shallow underwater photography.

In this Lightroom tutorial, I'll show you how to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop together to process a landscape photo I took of a beautiful starfish. You can use practically any recent version of these two photo editing software suites, but I personally have Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC installed on my MacBook Pro.

After checking my Camera Calibration Panel to make sure I'm working in Camera Neutral, I check the box for Remove Chromatic Aberration.

Then I move on to adjust the white balance. And then I use the Lightroom dehaze tool to take some of the haze created by the shallow sea water.

Next, I start making small tone adjustments in the Lightroom Basic Panel.

Next, I move on the the Tone Curve to give the image a little more contrast.

Then, I adjust sharpness in the Detail Panel. And then I add a slight vignette to keep the viewer's eyes from wandering towards the edges of the frame.

I also crop the photo and use the Spot Removal Tool to get rid of some underwater debris that I thought was distracting.

Finally, I edited the photo in Photoshop using the Lasso Tool and Content Aware Fill to get rid of my own shadow on the sand.

At the end of the video, I toggle on and off the before and after versions to show you the final product.
