In today’s video, I’m going to show you how to change the frequency of your Wi-Fi network adapter in Windows 10, from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz.

Switching your wireless adapter in Windows from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz offers several advantages, especially if your device supports dual-band connectivity and your router broadcasts on both frequencies.

5 GHz generally provides faster data transfer speeds than 2.4 GHz, making it ideal for activities like streaming HD videos, online gaming, or downloading large files.

If your device and router support 5 GHz, it's generally worth switching to it for better performance and less interference, as long as you remain within its effective range.

To get started with changing the frequency of your network adapter:
1. Go into the Windows start bar, and type in “Device Manager” and click on the device manager search result.
2. Once the device manager opens up, click on the arrow icon located next to the “Network adapters” menu option.
3. Now from this drop down menu, you’ll want to identify your computer’s wireless adapter. Generally it will have “Wi-Fi” or “Wireless” in the name. On my computer, you can see it’s the “Intel Wi-Fi” option.
4. Once you’ve identified your computer’s Wi-Fi adapter, right click on it, and select the “Properties” option from the context menu.
5. A properties dialog window will now open up. Click on the “Advanced” tab.
6. From this window, scroll down in the property field, and look for the option called “Preferred band”.
7. Please note, if you don’t see this option, it’s most likely because your computer’s wireless adapter doesn’t support multiple frequency bands.
8. Once you’ve clicked on this option, you’ll want to click on the “Value” dropdown menu to the right, and select the third option for “Prefer 5 GHz band”.
9. Now click on the “OK” button.
10. Your computer’s wireless adapter should now be using the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band.

And it’s as easy as that, changing your computer’s wireless network adapter band from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz is a simple task to perform.
