On 13 Feburary , 2024, The Prime Minister had launched a scheme with which Government aims to provide 300 units per month to 1 crore houses. The Government aims to invest Rs 75,021 crore to install rooftop Solar and light up people’s houses . One can get subsidy of upto Rs 78,000 for installation of solar rooftop panels.
The scheme is called PM SURYA GHAR: MUFT BIJLI YOJANA
Subsidy for residential households is as follows:Rs. 30,000/- per kW up to 2 kWRs. 18,000/- per kW for additional capacity up to 3 kW
Therefore, total Subsidy for systems larger than 3 kW capped at Rs 78,000 (30,000*2 +18,000)
Households will be able to apply for subsidy through national portal and can select suitable vendor for installing rooftop solar.Steps to apply for the same:1) Open https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in
2) Click Apply for Rooftop Solar
3) You have to register first with these details - State, Electricity Distribution Company, Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number, and Email.
4) Once done, login with your mobile number to proceed further.
5) You can now apply for the Rooftop scheme. You have to submit bank detail at any stage of the application.
6) Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM
7) Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter
8) Commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM
9)Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
Households can access collateral-free low-interest loan products of around 7 per cent at present for installation.
From substantive subsidies, which will be given directly to people’s bank accounts, to heavily concessional bank loans, the Central Government aims to reduce down cost burden on the people.
