In this video, we tackled a tricky issue with a Huawei P30 Pro that kept restarting every six seconds, which started after a screen replacement. Let's walk through the repair process together.
We began with a quick disassembly of the phone. To reach the motherboard, we had to remove the back cover, inner housing, and the NFC Antenna. Remember to disconnect the battery as soon as you reach the motherboard to prevent short circuits.

We disconnected the two coaxial cables and carefully lifted the connectors to free the motherboard from the phone. Once out, we carried out a visual inspection under a microscope - a crucial step in any repair.
During the inspection, we found five missing SMD components which were likely accidentally removed during the connector disconnection process. A few of these were situated above the battery connector. After some analysis, we determined that the missing components were three capacitors and two resistors.

We decided to recycle two resistors from a spare board we had in the workshop. It's always a good idea to keep broken boards on hand for exactly this reason - we can often recycle components to fix other devices.
We then soldered the first resistor onto the phone's board. However, we encountered a broken track. To fix this, we applied flux, solder paste, and a thin copper wire to bridge the gap. Then, we carefully soldered the resistor on top, ensuring we didn't damage the plastic FPC connector.
Next, we added a bit of solder paste and placed the second resistor in position. Using a hot air station, we applied 350ºC and lowered the airflow to the minimum to solder the second resistor.
Once the soldering was complete, we checked the repair. Satisfied that the device was working correctly, we quickly reassembled the device and let it charge. For a high-end device repair like this one, we typically charge around 100 euros.
After ensuring the device functioned correctly, all that remained was placing the missing capacitors and doing a quick clean-up. In conclusion, we successfully fixed a constant restart issue on a Huawei P30 Pro that occurred after a screen replacement. The process was meticulous, but the results were rewarding.
