In this video I deconstruct how I created an beauty image inspired by the abstract painter Mondrian. Mondrian used graphic shapes and saturated colors to create his recognizable compositions and artwork. I wanted to use this same aesthetic for myself, but in the form of a beauty shoot.
For this image I used a white beauty dish as the main light, and used 3 white bounce reflectors to eliminate shadows. I then used 2 lights to create a pure white background.
On the subject’s face we attached a variety of pieces of tape to create the graphic composition, and then improved the lines and contrast in post-processing to give the shot its final polish.
This wasn't the easiest painting in the world to recreate, the clean lines and unique makeup definitely created a challenge, but I really like how the end result came out.
Leave a comment below and tell me what you think! I'd love it if this inspired you to create an homage to an artist you admire too!
