If your iPhone or Android’s microphone or speaker sounds muffled, this is how to fix it. First, we have to figure out why the speaker is muffled. Most of the time it's just dirty, well practically all the time. One way to check if the speaker is muffled all the time is to play a video or music.
I like to use the voice recorder app because it tests both the speaker and the microphone. To begin fixing this problem, take your iPhone out of its case and clean out every speaker and microphone. Then, restart your iPhone.
If that doesn’t work, go to the Accessibility Settings and make sure Mono Audio is off, Phone Noise Cancellation is off, and the Left-Right balance isn’t off-center. Does the speaker only sound muffled when you’re listening to music? In that case, check the Music EQ settings in the Settings app. Make sure EQ is off. If all else fails, Reset All Settings on your iPhone. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to get your iPhone speaker repaired.
