Most DIY 3D printers and even some "professional" 3D printers use 3D printed plastic parts in key structural places on the frame or in the motion system componentry. This is problematic when you want to print in a heated chamber and the increased temperature can cause these parts to get soft and deflect or possibly fail. For this reason I've made a 3d Printer out of mostly metal avoiding all the plastic parts that I reasonably can.
