PPPoE client is a protocol that enables a computer or network device to connect to an ISP's network over Ethernet using a broadband connection. It provides authentication using a username and password and assigns an IP address to the client. It is widely used by ISPs to provide broadband Internet services to their customers.
👉 To configure PPPoE client on MikroTik RouterOS, follow these steps:
1. log in to your router using winbox.
2. Click on the "Interfaces" menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
3. Click on the "PPPoE Client" tab, and then click on the "+" button to create a new PPPoE client interface.
4. In the "General" tab, give the PPPoE interface a name (e.g., "INTERNET-IN") and select the Ethernet interface that will be used for the PPPoE connection.
5. In the "Dial Out" tab, enter the username and password provided by your ISP.
6. Click on the "Advanced" tab and make sure "Use Peer DNS" is enabled. This will allow the router to use the DNS server provided by your ISP.
7. Click "Apply" to save your settings.
Your PPPoE client interface should now be configured. You can verify that the connection is working by going to the "Interfaces" menu and checking the status of the PPPoE interface. You should see an IP address assigned to the interface if the connection is successful.
