Alcohol abuse and misuse can have a detrimental effect on a persons physical, social and mental wellbeing. Alcoholism should be thought of as a public health issue. Alcoholism, often referred to as alcohol use disorder, represents a significant public health issue that impacts individuals, families, and communities worldwide. Chronic and excessive consumption of alcohol is linked to a plethora of health complications, including liver diseases, cardiovascular problems, and an increased risk of accidents and injuries. Additionally, the societal implications are vast, encompassing familial discord, workplace issues, and economic burdens. Beyond the physical and mental health consequences, the ripple effects of alcoholism contribute to increased healthcare costs, loss of workforce productivity, and strain on community resources. As a societal concern, tackling alcoholism necessitates a collective approach, uniting medical professionals, policymakers, communities, and affected individuals to foster awareness, provide support, and enact effective interventions.
