You can invest in a number of different sorts of video adverts on YouTube. Here, Google explains the fundamental forms. We go into greater detail later.
1. In-Feed Video Ads
Types of YouTube Ads in 2023 · 1. Video Discovery Ads · 2. TrueView In-stream Skippable Ads · 3. Non-Skippable In-Stream Ads · 4. Bumper Ads · 5. Overlay Ads. On the YouTube main page, search results pages, and as related videos on YouTube video watch pages, in-feed video advertisements are displayed. After searching YouTube, the following advertisement appeared:When a user clicks on the advertisement, a companion banner display ad will show up in a spot on the right-hand column of the destination video page.

2. Skippable In-Stream Ads
The typical video ad format on YouTube is skippable in-stream advertising. Advertisers only receive payment for these commercials when viewers watch them for at least 30 seconds, through the entire video, or when they take an action, such clicking on a call-to-action. Skippable commercials on YouTube must last between 12 seconds and 6 minutes.

These advertisements will begin to play before YouTube users begin watching the videos they have chosen. After five seconds, viewers occasionally have the opportunity to skip the advertisement.

Campaigns with skippable advertisements may contain videos with actors, dialogue, and music that was obtained with consent or is regarded as royalty-free. It's preferable to avoid broadcasting a typical promotional advertisement, though. You need to offer your audience a reason to remain watching these videos because they can be skipped, and historically, product plugs don't get the views you might anticipate.Instead, use the limited time in this video to tell a story. People enjoy reading about real-life struggles that they can relate to in case studies. It provides amusement, which increases brand recognition and reduces the temptation to skip it.Advertisers may gather a ton of data on the success of their advertising with skippable in-stream ads for testing and optimization purposes.YouTube account managers can gather information about an ad's total views, partial views, channel subscriptions, clickthrough rates on CTAs, views derived from a user sharing the content, and views on the brand's other content that can be linked to someone who first viewed a video ad using their Google Ads account.By using these steps, advertisers are better able to assess the complete value of their video ad investments and decide how best to spend their budgets to improve results.
3. Non-Skippable In-Stream Ads
Non-skippable advertisements may start before to, during, or following the main video. They may last for 15 to 20 seconds. Here's an illustration:

A YouTube video that is 10 minutes or longer has non-skippable mid-roll video commercials that start halfway through the video. Viewers of the ads will notice a five-second countdown on the desktop and yellow marks where the ads are located in the app.You have the same level of control over non-skippable ads' assigned content as you do with skippable ads. The aspects that you feel best portray your brand in 15 to 20 seconds can include people, dialogue, audio, and more.Non-skippable advertisements cannot be skipped, hence it is best to include a call-to-action (CTA) in these video to make the most of the attention you do receive from the viewer. Encourage people to click on your advertisement in order to receive anything in return, in other words. Use non-skippable advertisements to grab those clicks if you've recently launched a new product or are promoting a significant event this season.
4. Bumper Ads
The shortest kind of YouTube video ad that is accessible to you are bumper ads. These advertisements run for only six seconds each before a viewer's selected video. It cannot be skipped.

Obviously, bumper video commercials can't adequately tell a story in just six seconds, but they are a great addition to longer video campaigns promoting a new product launch or event. Just make sure to make the most of those six seconds by including only the elements of your brand you want people to remember.
5. Overlay Ads
As seen in the example below, overlay ads are a form of banner ad that floats at the bottom of the video. Your existing in-stream video campaigns should be supplemented with this kind of advertisement. A banner ad makes it possible to reach your target market without being intrusive with your product promotion.
