Stolzenfels Castle on the left bank of the Rhine rises majestically from its surroundings. Once the summer residence of Frederick William IV of Prussia, it reflects not only the Romanticism of the Rhine but also the outstanding architecture of the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. According to his plans, the former castle ruin was transformed into a neo-Gothic residence.
