Tom Holland’s latest venture into the world of non-alcoholic beer is turning heads, but it’s more than just a celebrity business move. After nearly three years of sobriety, the actor has unveiled his new brand called Bero, a project born from his personal struggles and passion for creating a meaningful alternative to alcohol. Holland’s decision to quit drinking in January 2022 was far from easy. In interviews, he shared how his first year without alcohol was one of the hardest experiences he had ever gone through. He admitted that had Bero existed back then, the journey might have been smoother, which became part of his motivation to develop this brand.
Holland has been open about why he felt the need to give up drinking. His drinking habits started becoming concerning, and he realized it was time for a change. It wasn’t just a Dry January experiment that led him to reconsider his relationship with alcohol; he discovered that once he started drinking, it was hard to stop. Although the first few months of sobriety were rough, Holland found clarity and joy as time passed. By the six-month mark, he felt better than ever, calling it the toughest but greatest achievement of his life. Proud of what he had accomplished, the idea for Bero emerged from his exploration of non-alcoholic drinks.
Bero became something more than just another beverage brand to Holland. He had turned down several business offers over the years, waiting to find something that truly resonated with him. With Bero, the process felt personal and genuine. The first steps toward making it happen began in late 2023, and from that moment, the actor immersed himself fully in the development. Holland teamed up with beverage expert John Herman, and together they spent the next year fine-tuning their creations, tasting different recipes, and perfecting the flavors.
Zendaya, Holland’s longtime partner and fellow Spider-Man star, had a surprisingly influential role during the early stages of testing. Although Zendaya isn’t a beer fan—she even jokes that she can’t stand the taste of it—her feedback was invaluable. When she admitted that she found the early versions of Bero tasty, Holland knew they were onto something. He laughed at the irony, saying that if someone who hates beer enjoyed it, it must mean they were creating something unique.
The three flavors of Bero reflect important moments and relationships from Tom Holland’s life, adding a deeply personal touch to the brand. The Kingston Golden Pils is inspired by Holland’s hometown of Kingston Upon Thames, a place he holds close to his heart. This pilsner isn't just a typical European lager—it’s crafted with a refreshing modern twist, embodying the warmth and vibrancy of the place where Holland grew up. Every sip is meant to capture the nostalgia and pride he feels for the town that shaped his early years. Next is the Edge Hill Hazy IPA, named after the school he attended, which played a significant role in his development both as a person and an actor. This tropical and hoppy beer mirrors the lively and adventurous spirit Holland embraced during his school days, a time when he was learning to navigate life and pursue his passions. Finally, Noon Wheat beer brings an emotional touch to the collection, inspired by his beloved dog Noon, who has been by his side through thick and thin. The beer’s citrusy kick symbolizes the bright and playful energy Noon brings to his life, making it more than just a drink—it’s a tribute to a cherished companion.
