When it comes to developing for Dynamics 365 and the Common Data Service for Apps, Microsoft recommends that developers migrate from the older SOAP-based APIs to the new Web API which is based on REST and ODATA. This video introduces attendees to the fundamental of the CDS for Apps Web API and explains how to get started writing and testing C# code in Visual Studio which can create, read, update and delete records in the CDS for Apps with standard entities such as Accounts and Contacts. The video demonstrates how to register and configure an Azure AD application with the permissions required to call into the CDS for Apps Web API. Attendees will also learn how to use the Web API to create custom entities, entity attributes, and option sets. Along the way, attendees will learn how work with solutions packages to export a set of CDS for Apps components from a development environment which can be imported into other PowerApps environments as either managed solutions or unmanaged solutions.
