Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu. The game was released on June 16, 2022 for Windows, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Shredder's Revenge is inspired by the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and borrows stylistically from arcade and home console games developed by Konami in the 80s and 90s. The characters in the game were voiced by the original voice actors from the 1987 series in their respective roles. The music was composed by Ty Lopez with contributions from guitarist Johnny Atma, rapper Mega Ran, singer Mike Patton, and Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah and Raekwon.
Shredder Revenge's "Ninja Turtles" received universal critical acclaim, with some gaming publications calling it the greatest beat 'em up ever. According to rating aggregator Metacritic, Shredder's Revenge received "generally favorable" reviews, reaching an aggregate score of 80/100 across all platforms. Reviewers gave high marks to the pixel art, playable character roster, and combat mechanics. Criticism included audio quality issues and the short length of the story mode.
Shredders Revenge is a side-scrolling action game with a pixelated art style. In the game, the player takes control of six characters to choose from: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, April O'Neil, teacher Splinter, and the unlockable character Casey Jones. Each character has its own unique characteristics (range, speed and strength) and is played differently. In addition, each character has unique super moves and taunts. As the player progresses through each stage, the player will find pizza boxes that can be used to heal the player, and other foods that give players additional strength and endless superpowers for a short period of time.
The game features two different modes: standard arcade mode and story mode. In arcade mode, players only have a limited number of lives, and the game must be completed in one sitting. Story Mode allows players to exchange accumulated points for health, extra lives, extra combat moves, and a special ability referred to in-game as "Radical Mode", which temporarily improves the player's combat abilities. In story mode, each stage also has additional content, challenges, and collectibles[33]. In addition to the single player mode, the game supports up to six players for online play and four players for local co-op play[34]. Players can high-five to share health, or attack together with certain moves
