I will discuss shards, as there's nothing else to explain. So, in all honesty, purple shards are bad. They are only good if you level cap with Valkyr, but if you use them for normal gameplay, you will one-shot everything and be unable to proc melee influence. So, for 99% of people, red STR shards are much better.
