In this video, I will be taking you through the steps on how to change the number of recently used apps that display in the dock on macOS. macOS Mojave was the first version of the operating system to allow for recently used apps to remain in the dock, however, it has always been limited to three apps by default. Following this process will allow you to increase or decrease this number using a simple Terminal Command, allowing you to customise your Mac to your personal preferences. You can find the terminal command required below. Please Note: You may need to type out the code below into Terminal, rather than Copy/Paste, if it displays an error when you attempt to run it.
Code for Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.dock show-recents -bool true;
defaults write com.apple.dock show-recent-count -int 10;
killall Dock
