In this module Rob Burley answers the question: “In practice, those in the media who cover politics need to have a good working relationship with politicians and with their PR. How can this be reconciled with the notion that political reporting ought to be impartial?”, focusing in particular on: (i) the professional and social overlap between those who work in the media and politicians; (ii) problems this can create for impartial political media coverage.
