Texas Rangers draft Kumar Rocker No. 3 in 2022 MLB Draft: What to expect from a polarizing pick
The Texas Rangers picked Kumar Rocker third overall in the 2022 MLB draft. After being drafted 10th overall by the New York Mets in the 2021 draft, Rocker pitched in the Frontier League to show he was still one of the best prospects in the class.
The Rangers took a huge risk on Rocker and passed on high school bats Temarr Johnson and Elijah Green who have extremely high floors but significant risk as amateur players.
Texas reunites Jack Leiter with his former Vanderbilt teammate and the two could form a dangerous 1-2 punch at the top of the Rangers' rotation for years to come.
