When it comes to spreading information and communicating, the internet is the greatest thing we have ever come up with. We can connect with millions of people, we can share and develop exciting new ideas, and we can even disrupt entire industries. All this is possible because everything written, built, or shared is free to flow across the whole network. You don't need any special deals or permission to reach millions. The internet has worked like this since the beginning because of a basic idea of fairness that has been named 'net neutrality'.
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content.
