Really, it was a way to procrastinate the work I actually HAD to do. I went down a rabbit hole and found this mechanism, similar to the only you would find in your clicky pen. It wasn’t going to fit into the project I was working on. I tried to let it go. I meant to let it go. But then I spent a whole day working on. 4 iterations later and I had a working design, that I realized doubled as an animation device. The whole thing is 3D printed including the spring (this was a first for me). Ultimately, my procrastination led me somewhere fun- in the words of Mr. B Ross - it was a happy accident.
