Playing through Armored Warriors in "Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle" on PS4 with Rash.

There's so much going on graphically that it can be hard to tell who's who a lot of the time--and this is just with one of up to eh three or so players I think (I set it to a 2P machine so there would be less text at the top).

The starting "Shot" weapon is a really weak machine-gun that's just no fun; others like missiles and flame throwers are more powerful and could potentially have been interesting in tactical ways, but generally I found myself just using the Shot button when I had to clear space because there were just too many enemies in my face!

The hand-to-hand attacks are frustrating as well; at least with Rash (maybe I'll have to try the fastest robot thingy some time), all of but two of them feel very slow and cumbersome, opening you up to counter-attack right and left--and once you get one of the two fast ones (the laser sword and um some kind of shieldy thing in like the last stage that shoots, which is weird but effective), you have to avoid the slow weapons, which seem to be constantly underfoot and in danger of being picked up and replacing your good weapon. : P

The game is also a bit flashy on the eyeballs what with all those huge mechs everywhere! But it isn't as flashy as I had feared at first; in fact, considering how many big sprites are in the thing, it's surprisingly not-too-flashy, relatively speaking.

The game is kinda fun, sure, but hm well maybe it also has to do with it being robots rather than humans or humanoids--just harder to relate to all the crazy limbs and lasers and treads and everything flying around.

When I played this 2P with a friend there was a thing where the good robots could combine into a big robot, sometimes, and I think one of us moved and one shot, or something; that was funny as a novelty at least. It never happened in 1P so I guess it's just a multiplayer thing--which makes sense given the control, I suppose, but is too bad if you're on your own.

Recording: PS4 to Elgato HD60
