What is a Proxy Server?

A proxy server is an intermediary server that sits between a client (such as a web browser) and a destination server (usually a website or other online service).

It receives requests from clients, processes them, and forwards the requests to the appropriate destination server. The response is then sent back to the client through the proxy.

When you want to visit a website, instead of connecting directly to it, your request first goes to the proxy server. The proxy server then makes the request on your behalf, fetches the website, and sends it back to you.
In short, a proxy server acts as a go-between for you and the websites you visit.
