Join me on a farewell walk of the Tropicana Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tropicana Las Vegas is a hotel casino located on Las Vegas Boulevard just south of the MGM Grand and across the street from the Excalibur Las Vegas. Tropicana opened on April 4, 1957 at a cost of $15 million to build. After many renovations, Tropicana currently has 1,467 rooms. Tropical is the oldest operating casino on the Las Vegas Strip. It is home to the Laugh Factory , MJ Live and Purple Reign shows. It features restaurants like Robert Irvine's Public House and Oakville Steakhouse. Tropicana will be closing its doors for good on April 2, 2024 to make way for a new $1.5 billion baseball stadium for the Las Vegas A's and a new casino resort. The demolition is set for October 2024 and the ground breaking for the A's stadium will be April 2025. The plan is to open the stadium in time for the 2028 Major League Baseball season. The stadium will have 33,000 seats.
